I got the Fahrenheit 9/11 DVD yesterday, and all I can say is: what a great purchase. It makes me wonder why there are still so many George W. Bush advocates still out there. I can spend an hour quoting stuff from the movie, but it's nothing new. I knew, everyone knew, before the movie was publicly released. Hooray, Saddam was overthrown, and is now in American custody. The Iraqi threat is no more. Of course, the Weapons of Mass Destruction were never found, and their very existanec is questionable, but at least we can all sleep soundly. But wait! Where is Mr. Bin Laden? Wasn't he the dude who started the whoel thing? Oh, he died in a cave, I remember now... some arbitrary disease of some organ in the silly arab's body. He's no threat... What about North Korea, who actually claim to nuclear weaponry in their posession? Nope, the real threat is still in Iraq. Street militia and fire bombers are the greatest threat to the American people.
F9/11 was given an R rating in the United States, but it only acheived a 14+ here in Canada. How can that be? Our standards are no different than the standards in the US. You can't tell me America is afraid of war and violence, and Canada is battle hardened and desensitized. The R rating was a last minute desperate attempt so censor the film from the public. If F9/11 was only a pack of lies, like the republicans and their supporters claim it is, then why hasm't Bush, or anyone for that matter, directly disputed any of the points made by the movie??
Some call Moore a hater of America and unpatriotic. Let me remind you that patriotism is the support of one's COUNTRY, not the support of ones president. Through making this movie, Moore has shown people the light. He made a movie that made people see that something needs to be done about this. He made this movie in attempt to better American Nation. If that's the case, wouldnt that make him even more patriotic than you? Or even the President of the United States of America himself? He sure hasn't bettered his country.
I was watching the morning news today, and the Canadian dollar has risen to over 80 cents American. It hasnt been that high in decades. This isn't our doing, nothing has drastically changed in canada, infact with the shit out prime minister is pulling, our economy is going down! Bush is ruining your economy, hes taking away your rights and freedoms, hes killing America.
This is the longest thing I've written in a long time that wasn't homework, and this isn't even very academic or intelligible.. just stuff off the top of my head, no extra research. These are my two cents on the issue. This is my journal entry, and I can write what the hell I want. If you read this and don't like it, go sit on a nail, cause arguing this isn't any more productive, although, I'll doubt that anyone will read this anyway.
